As the archives of the Society have grown over the years since 1975, the need for permanent premises in which to store and display material has become more necessary than ever. We now have much material, especially photographs, to display to the public as was seen in our major exhibition at Foxdenton Hall in June, 1999.

Since 1996, the Society has been in consultation with Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council in the hope of obtaining a suitable location in Chadderton town centre in which to set up a 'Chadderton Heritage Centre' .

The Society does not intend forming a‘museum' in the conventional sense, but seeks to create a centre in which the various age and ethnic groups which form our community can be involved in a wide variety of local history projects.
